Reading campaign terms

Understand dates, eligibility and the difference between a headline and complete conditions.

Start with the source

A banner is a summary, not a complete set of conditions. Record the source of the material and look for a dated version of the terms. If no full terms are available, the image alone cannot establish how a campaign works.

Separate the headline from the conditions

A figure described as “up to” is a maximum, not a promise. Check whether an amount is cash, restricted credit, a pooled total or a potential prize. These categories can have very different meanings.

Look for limits and exclusions

Eligibility, qualifying activity, time windows and withdrawal conditions can change the meaning of a headline. Do not assume conditions from one campaign also apply to another. Keep unanswered questions visible rather than filling them with guesses.

Keep a dated reference

Campaign information can change. If you compare versions, record their dates and wording. This archive preserves supplied artwork; it does not certify that a campaign is currently available.
